Spring Intersession
May 26 - June 12, 2026
About Intersession
Intersessions are condensed class schedules offered in the weeks between semesters. Intersession classes provide the same curriculum, grades, units, and degree progress as classes in the fall or spring semester, only in a much shorter timeframe. Each day of an Intersession class is equivalent to at least one week of a class offered in the fall or spring semesters.
Most Intersession classes are offered on an open-enrollment basis, and there is no priority registration. Anyone who meets the prerequisites may enroll as soon as registration opens. Intersessions are also open to non-Fresno State participants.

Registration and Payment
Courses offered in Intersession provide the same course credit and fulfill the same programmatic requirements as their counterparts in the fall and spring semesters. Advisors can help students determine whether Intersession is a useful way to complete their degree requirements.
The registration process is the same as the fall and spring semesters. Current students may log into MyFresnoState and use the "Search for Classes" or "Class Enrollment" tools to find available classes in the "SUMMER 2026" term.
THE INTERSESSION CLASS FEE IS $357 PER UNIT.
Refer to the Continuing and Global Education registration guide for detailed information on accepted payments.
Initial Registration Period
Immediate Pay Registration Period
IMPORTANT!
If you enroll in additional Summer 2026 classes that are not part of Intersession, please pay for those separately with a "General Payment."
Students may drop Intersession classes online until the fourth calendar day of class. Students who have a serious and compelling reason and who wish to drop on the fifth calendar day or later may petition to drop with a grade of “W.”
See "Refunds" below for more information on refund policies.
WARNING: After the fourth calendar day, there are NO DROPS OR REFUNDS unless you have a serious and compelling reason (see below). You will receive a failing grade if you do not attend class or attempt to drop.
Waitlists are available for Spring Intersession. Students may add themselves to the waitlist if a class is full, and will be auto-enrolled in the class if a space becomes available. The last day to join a waitlist will be May 21, 2026.
Important Note: Waitlisted students should check their campus email daily for notification of registration and be prepared to make payment before the next deadline, especially if enrollment occurs during the "Immediate Pay" registration period when students with unpaid balances are dropped every 24 hours.
Intersession grades will be averaged into students' Fresno State GPA. Students who do not attend their enrolled classes will receive failing grades, which will reflect on their GPA as well. Winter Intersession grades will be available at MyFresnoState after June 19.
Intersession courses have the same grading options--for example: letter-grading, credit/no credit, or student choice--as their equivalents in the fall and spring semesters. However, the period in which students may request changes to the grading option will be considerably shorter. Changes in grading option must be made no later than Friday of the first week of class.
The grading option may be changed during self-enrollment in MyFresnoState. The selected grading option will be used on the student's Fresno State transcript. The University Catalog provides detailed explanations of the various grading options, but please note that the deadlines referenced in the Catalog (e.g. 20th day of instruction) apply to fall and spring classes, NOT Intersession. Review the information in the University Catalog.
Intersession courses may be audited, similar to Fall and Spring classes. A schedule change form requesting audit grading must be submitted to the Continuing and Global Education Dean's Office no later than the Friday of the first week of instruction.
The University Catalog provides detailed explanations of the various grading options, but please note that the deadlines referenced in the Catalog (e.g., 20th day of instruction) apply to fall and spring classes, NOT Intersession. Review the information in the University Catalog.
Intersession is open to community members and non-Fresno State students. Matriculated and disqualified students, as well as the public, may take Intersession classes. The same registration process, fees, and deadlines apply to non-Fresno State students.
View the University's class schedule as a non-Fresno State student. Note: Spring Intersession (Summer 2026) class information will not be available on the schedule until March 9.
Course prerequisites may impact non-Fresno State students' ability to self-enroll if fulfillment of those prerequisites is not on record at Fresno State. For example, a non-Fresno State student attempting to enroll in Calculus 2 will be denied enrollment if they completed Calculus 1 at another institution, unless an official transcript was already sent to Fresno State as part of a prior degree completion or admission attempt. Course prerequisties may be overridden by permission numbers provided by instructors. Please contact the class instructor with permission number requests.
Registration in Intersession does not ensure admission to the university, nor should it be interpreted as acceptance to any degree or credential program. Students who are interested in formal admission to the university should contact the Office of Admissions for more information.
For more information on registration as a non-Fresno State student, please follow the Continuing and Global Education registration guide.
100% Refund

For instructions, view the "How to Receive a Refund" section of the Accounting Services website.
If a class is cancelled by the university, a refund will be automatically dispersed; students will not need to submit a form to request the refund.

Why enroll in Spring Intersession?
Spring Intersession allows you to concentrate on a single class instead of a full course load. Taking Spring Intersession classes may also help you graduate sooner. Spring Intersession can also be an opportunity for Fresno State students and community members to explore new areas of study outside of the traditional academic year.
How long are Spring Intersession classes?
Most Spring Intersession classes are three weeks in length. A handful may be shorter, but all instruction, assignments, and exams will be completed within the three-week session.
How do Intersession classes differ from regular semester courses?
Intersession classes provide the same academic credit as regular semester classes, but in a highly condensed format. During Intersession, you are essentially working full-time on a class with reports, assignments, exams, etc., coming at a much faster pace. Please plan work, travel, and other commitments accordingly.
Will Intersession classes count toward my Fresno State degree?
Intersession classes count toward residency and are identical to regular-semester classes at Fresno State. Ask your advisor if a specific class meets your degree requirements.
What is the difference between Spring Intersession and Summer Semester?
There is no difference in content or quality. Spring Intersession is a shorter program that begins after Memorial Day in May. Students who take Intersession classes will finish within three weeks. Summer Semester classes are scheduled after Intersession and may be longer (up to 9 weeks). The required fees vary by session.
When will the Spring Intersession class list be released?
The tentative class list will be released in early March.
Who may register for Spring Intersession classes?
Anyone age 18 or older may register, provided they meet the minimum course requirements. Students from Fresno State, other California State University campuses, other colleges, and even community members can register. Some classes have restricted enrollment and require permission from the instructor or a department office before registration.
Do prerequisites apply to Spring Intersession classes?
YES, you must have met all applicable prerequisites to enroll in a Spring Intersession class. You may view prerequisite information in the University Catalog.
May I enroll in a Spring Intersession class if I do not meet the prerequisite?
You may enroll if you obtain a permission number from the instructor. Check the class list (when available) for instructor contact information. It is up to the instructor to determine if you will be permitted to enroll.
May I take an online Spring Intersession class if I am not in the Fresno area?
Possibly. Before registering, please contact the instructor to make sure there are no activities (e.g. orientations, meetings, field trips, exams, etc.) that require your physical presence. If there are, you may ask the instructor if they are willing to make exceptions. However, it is ultimately your responsibility to meet all class requirements as defined by the instructor.
Where can I find an instructor's contact information?
Most instructors are in the Campus Directory and on the Intersession Class List (when available). If your instructor is not listed, you may email cgeinfo@csufresno.edu for assistance.
When may I register for Spring Intersession?
Registration opens for all students on March 9, 2026. There is no priority registration for Spring Intersession. View the Registration tab for more information.
When are Spring Intersession fees due?
The payment deadline is May 5, 2026. After that, payment is due immediately upon registration.
What happens if I am dropped from Spring Intersession for nonpayment?
You may re-enroll in the same class or join the waitlist if seats are still available.
Is financial aid available during Spring Intersession?
Financial aid may be available for continuing matriculated students enrolled in a minimum of 6 units during Spring Intersession and/or Summer Semester. You must have leftover aid from the prior academic year.
What happens if my Spring Intersession class is removed from the schedule?
If your class is removed from the schedule by the University, you will receive an automatic, full refund of any fees paid and may enroll in a different class if you wish.
Where do I purchase my Spring Intersession books?
The Kennel Bookstore will offer Spring Intersession books (in physical and electronic formats). Some classes may offer course materials at no cost.
Will I need a parking permit during Spring Intersession?
Permits are required to park on campus during Spring Intersession. Daily permits are $5. You may also purchase a summer parking permit for $44.

What campus and student services will be available during Spring Intersession?
The Kennel Bookstore, Student Union, Student Recreation Center, Student Health Center, and various other services will be available. Some services may have reduced hours or require an additional fee for summer access.
When and where will Spring Intersession grades be posted?
Spring Intersession grades are expected to post to transcripts in mid-August, regardless of the actual end date of your class(es).
How can I view my grades before they are posted to transcripts?
You can view your grades sooner by logging in to your MyFresnoState Student Center and clicking "My Grades" after June 19, 2026. Grades are not considered "official" by the University until they are posted to transcripts.
