For more details about the SPOT – Writing, click the tabs on the left.

Fresno State is piloting a unique opportunity for students to improve their writing skills with this self-paced online tutorial. Available beginning in Spring 2014, this SPOT is completely FREE for students (although space is limited). Additional fees may apply for students who choose to submit a portfolio to fulfill the Upper Division Writing Requirement.

The SPOT is ideal for those who have not yet completed the Upper Division Writing Requirement, as the tutorial will help you develop your writing skills in preparation for the Upper Division Writing Exam (UDWE). A faculty Writing Mentor will provide guidance, feedback, and help you become a successful academic reader and writer in any context.

While study is self-paced, you will have a maximum of six months to complete the tutorial. The SPOT is conducted on Blackboard, allowing you to log in and study at your convenience.

Students proud of the work developed in SPOT may elect to have their written work transformed into an e-portfolio for judgment of UDWE equivalence.

The SPOT program is filled to capacity and no longer accepting students for the Fall 2013 semester. Check back in Spring, 2014 for information on the next admission opportunity. You may also complete the contact form linked here to be added to the mailing list.
