Magic Numbers—Mental Math - CANCELLED
The purpose of this course is to stimulate the use of the brain to be able to do math
in one's head, or at least in a shorter time than usual, by use of shortcuts and other
tricks. The shortcuts discussed are useful in the four areas of addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division—and there are also some shortcuts that crossover in two
of these areas at one time. We have become used to relying on calculators available
on the computer and smartphone. But the process can be even faster by the use of the
shortcuts presented in this class. Even if one does not use these tricks for day-to-day
calculations, using these shortcuts is good exercise for the brain.
