Getting Around in Fresno

Bus Transportation

Fresno maintains a bus transit system called FAX (Fresno Area Express) which services 14 routes in Fresno and also includes Clovis, Highway City, Malaga and Pinedale. There are several routes which serve Fresno State. They run on 20, 30 or 60-minute cycles.

  • Monday to Saturday, 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.

For information on routes, schedules and monthly passes visit the University Student Union (USU) Information Center or call the Fresno Transit Office, (559) 498-1122. There are four bus routes that serve Fresno State: Route 9, 28, 34 and 38. Bus fees are $1 (you must have exact change). If you plan to ride the bus frequently, consider purchasing a monthly pass at the USU Information Center to save money.

Bicycle

bikeMany students, whether they live on or off-campus, consider buying a bicycle. Notices of used bicycles for sale are posted on bulletin boards around campus and advertised in the school newspaper or the Fresno Bee. There are many stores that sell new and used bicycles and also make repairs. Refer to the Yellow Pages in your local phone directory

For safety, laws and precautions about riding bicycles, see the bicycle safety handbook, "A Guide to Safer Bicycling", offered by the University Police. For further information check with the Public Safety Office located on Barstow Avenue.
