Why did you choose Fresno State?
Fresno State has a central location in California, which is close to so many different
bigger cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco. Fresno definitely has what most
college students require to succeed and there are different programs that promote
students’ success.
What’s the best thing about Fresno State?
Cultural and ethnic diversity is one of the major advantages of Fresno State as a
university, and it has so many different clubs and organizations where everyone can
have a place where they belong.
What are your favorite campus activities?
Before transitioning to distant learning one of my favorite things to do at Fresno
State was attending some plays at the university theater and participating in club
meetings for the different clubs that I am part of. After the transition to distance
learning, I am still part of different clubs, and many still do meet on a regular
basis through online means, which adds regularity to college life and is a good activity
to be more social while still being safe.
What are your favorite local activities?
I really enjoy going on hikes around California’s central valley, and one of my favorite
spots to hike that is not too far from the city is Millerton lake, where the view
is peaceful and the hike is moderate.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Fresno, California?
One of my favorite activities in Fresno is ArtHop, which is a regular event where
you can enjoy different artists’ work, enjoy food from food trucks and enjoy walking
down the street, and visiting the different art galleries, studios, and record stores.
What are your plans after you graduate?
I am planning on finding a job preferably with a big firm where I can work with datasets
and analyze them. I am also planning on getting my master’s degree in Economics which
I can utilize to advance my career and hopefully be successful.
Advice for new students?
My advice would be to enjoy your college life as much as you can and explore the different
organizations and clubs on campus to find the one of the few that you think to align
with what you like the most in a club or an organization. I would also advise on getting
used to studying at regular times and working on your time management skills because
that might need more time for many students. A good way to do that is to get a planner
and put down the things you need to do and finish so you do not feel that you are
behind.
