Collaborating for a sustainable San Joaquin Valley.
The San Joaquin Valley's smart growth initiative is funded by a $4 million grant awarded
by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Driven by a compact of 14
of the Valley's largest cities, in partnership with several nonprofit organizations
and regional stakeholders, the result will be an integrated plan for regional growth
to guide the Valley for the next 20 years. The region will benefit from the implementation
of a regional plan for civic engagement to build technical understanding of smart
growth and implementation capacity among local leaders and the community.
